Mark O'Shea
Mark O'Shea

Directed by Roger Finnigan, Sea Serpents is one of the twenty films I made with intrepid international herpetologist Mark O'Shea. Filmed off Weipa in Australia's northernmost tip and on the Ashmore Reef National Park, to the south of Rotan in Indonesia.

This underwater adventure almost put an untimely end to Mark's career when he ran out of air seventy feet below the surface. The air gauge on Mark's breathing set was faulty and still showed he had air left. Fortunately Mark was able to make a controlled ascent to the surface by sharing air with one of the professional safety divers. Once back on board the dive ship the unit doctor monitored Mark's reactions and kept a close watch out for tell tale signs of the bends.
